Embrace for Madni, Hartals for Saddam and Neglect for the brave hero who sacrificed his life for Nation!

Bangalore : Nation paid it’s last tribute to Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who sacrificed his life fighting Jihadi’s in one of the bloodiest terror attacks in the country. As the war was against Jihadi’s no single MLA or MP from Kerala bothered to turn up when thousands mourned the death of their Hero . Not even Marxist MP Krishnadas who was saved from death and life by these brave hearts of the Nation.Kerala Government haven't even bothered to send a condolence message to Unnikrishnan's family. The mortal remains of the 31-year-old, wrapped in the tricolour were laid before a framed photograph of the hero and people -- friends, leaders, colleagues, family and strangers, filed past with bent heads and folded hands. Karnataka Chief Minister B.Yediyuraappa and other State BJP leaders and Ministers paid their tribute to Nation's hero along with thousands. Grief stricken family members, friends and others broke down as Unnikrishnan's inconsolable mother sat close to his body caressing her son, repeatedly touching his forehead. Ordinary people lined up the street, crowded on roofs and balconies and at some places threw flowers at the vehicle carrying Unnikrishnan's body. People were seen stopping their cars and standing out to pay their respects. Born on March 15, 1977 and the only son of retired ISRO officer K Unnikrishnan, he had joined the NationalDefenceAcademy and was Army in 1999. He joined the NSG on deputation in January 2007 after having served two tenures with his battalion in counter insurgency and counter terrorism roles. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan showed exceptional courage by laying down his life to save the lives of his fellow colleagues at Taj Hotel and that of Hostages The courageous was picked for undertaking an operation at the Taj hotel on Friday morning. Unnikrishnan came back with an injured soldier who had come under fidayeen fire. After leaving him safely with his colleagues outside the Taj hotel, the major returned to the scene of firing to continue the operation and reached a place where there was no chance of getting reinforcements. Even after coming under heavy enemy fire and being asked by his fellow soldiers if he needed reinforcement, Unnikrishnan declined the offer. “He communicated back that there was no need for them to come for his aid and he was safe. It was a deliberate trick used by Unni to save his colleagues from getting into a booby trap,” said the officer, his voice quivering with pride.
